Amels
Nestled in the Dutch shipbuilding town of Vlissingen, with roots stretching back to the 14th century, Amels has evolved as a symbol of the Netherlands’ illustrious maritime history. The shipyard was founded in 1918 and initially engaged in various shipbuilding activities before pivoting to luxury superyachts in 1982. Amels first graced the superyacht scene with the launch of the 48m Katalina. The game-changer, however, was in 2005 when they constructed the Tigre d’Or, the world’s first MCA-compliant certified superyacht. This milestone marked the birth of their “semi-custom” Limited Editions series, designed by Tim Heywood. Amels is part of the Damen Group, which further bolsters its standing by providing access to a wealth of maritime expertise and resources.
When it comes to aesthetics and functionality, Amels has created a unique blend that epitomizes luxury and performance. Designer Tim Heywood’s involvement has led to a series of yachts with elegant lines, and the use of proven, blueprinted hull-and-engineering platforms ranging from 55m to 83m offers a harmonious blend of customization and reliability. Each Amels yacht is an ode to craftsmanship, boasting features that transform time into an experience—into something magical and memorable. Beyond the elegant exteriors lie interiors that offer ultimate comfort, making them floating dream homes for families and socialites alike.
In its over a century-long journey, Amels has been a trendsetter in launching yachts that garner global attention. The 75m “Here Comes The Sun,” also designed by Tim Heywood, holds the title for being their largest motor yacht to date since its launch in 2016. The 73.69m Ilona, designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon, won accolades for her graceful appearance when she was launched in 2004. The 60m Amels Limited Editions 199 Event captured worldwide attention in 2013, for its striking exterior. Most recently, the shipyard announced the Amels 80, a yacht infused with decades of owner feedback and inspired by sustainable technology, manifesting the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility. This sustainable approach reflects not only the brand’s innovation but also its respect for the timeless beauty of the natural marine environments their yachts explore. With a relentless focus on quality, customization, and sustainability, Amels continues to set new benchmarks in the superyacht industry.
