Adam Cooper
Designated Person Ashore (DPA) / Company Security Officer (CSO)
Adam initially started work in the British Army’s Royal Military Police, where he had a challenging career, mostly involving specialist and protracted criminal investigations. Following thirteen years of military service in Germany, the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, and Iraq, he moved to yachting. Firstly, in the recreational field as a sailing instructor and flotilla skipper in Greece before moving across to be a yacht Captain for a private client in Cyprus.
Adam has worked with some of the largest yachts and management companies in the world and for the last seventeen years has remained in senior operational yacht management with extensive experience of safety, security, environmental, and quality management systems in accordance with international and local state regulations, such as the ISM Code, ISPS Code and MLC 2006.
His experiences have included acting as a DPA, CSO, Senior Operational Manager, and Head of Operational Department, managing diverse teams and conducting audit inspections of ships and shore-based offices, including the monitoring and review of vessel incidents and accidents, ensuring their timely investigation and closeout. Adam remains a pragmatic, resourceful, and dedicated manager with a good eye for detail and the ability to effectively lead multinational teams to ensure the continued safe management of yachts.
